About Journaling FX

A private, offline-first trading journal built for forex traders who care about improving.

Journaling FX is a distraction-free journal for the trades you take. Log the pair, the direction, entries and exits, your stop and target, the strategy you were running, the reasoning that convinced you, and the emotions you felt while the trade was live.

Weeks and months of honest entries turn into a personal dataset — the pairs you actually make money on, the setups you keep forcing, the emotions that quietly cost you your edge. Reviewing your journal is how you transform experience into expertise.

Your data, your device

Everything you record is stored locally in your browser. There is no account, no cloud, and no analytics tracking your trades. Use the export button in the journal to download a JSON backup any time.

Journaling FX is designed to be local-first. This policy explains what that means in practice for the data you enter into the app.

What we collect

The app does not require an account and does not collect personal information. Every trade you log — pair, prices, lot size, P&L, strategy, reasoning, emotions and lessons — is stored in your browser's localStorage on the device you used to enter it.

What we don't do

• We do not send your trades to any server.
• We do not sell, share, or profile your data.
• We do not use third-party advertising or trade-related analytics.

Your controls

You can export a full JSON backup of your journal at any time from the Journal page, and you can permanently remove your journal by clearing site data in your browser settings.

By using Journaling FX ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please stop using the app.

1. Purpose

Journaling FX is a personal journal for recording your own trading activity. It is provided for educational and organisational purposes only and is not financial, investment, or trading advice.

2. No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. You are responsible for backing up your journal (use the Export button) and for any trading decisions you make.

3. Your data

Your entries are stored locally in your browser. You are responsible for keeping your device and browser secure. Losing access to your browser storage means losing your journal unless you have exported a backup.

4. Acceptable use

Don't attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or misuse the app in ways that could harm other users or the service.

5. Account deletion

Journaling FX has no accounts, but you can permanently remove your journal from your device by clearing site data in your browser settings. Read how to delete your account and data →

6. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Before you delete

We strongly recommend exporting your journal as a JSON backup before deleting. This allows you to keep a copy of your trading history for your records.

To export your journal: Go to the Journal page and click the download icon in the top right corner.

How to delete your data

Since Journaling FX is local-first and has no server accounts, you delete your data by clearing browser storage:

Chrome/Edge:

1. Click the three dots in the top right corner
2. Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data
3. Select "All time" for the time range
4. Make sure "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" are checked
5. Click Clear data

Firefox:

1. Click the three lines in the top right corner
2. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security
3. Scroll to Cookies and Site Data
4. Click Clear Data
5. Select both options and click Clear

Safari:

1. In the menu bar, click Safari → Settings
2. Go to the Privacy tab
3. Click Manage Website Data
4. Find this site in the list and click Remove
5. Click Remove Now to confirm

Alternative: Clear specific site data

You can also clear data for just this website:

• Chrome/Edge: Click the lock icon in the address bar → Site settings → Clear data
• Firefox: Click the lock icon in the address bar → Clear Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Follow the Safari steps above

What happens after deletion

After clearing your browser data:

• All your trades and journal entries will be permanently deleted
• The app will appear as if you just installed it (empty journal)
• No data will remain on any server (we don't have servers)
• You can start fresh by logging new trades
